Velocity Networks Review

Company Overview:

Velocity Networks is mainly for small businesses and aims to provide a strong network and reliable service. Though features on the basic plan are lacking somewhat (you can buy these on higher rate plans) the company does provide a service level agreement, meaning the quality is assured and you are protected if it is not up to the standard Velocity suggests it should be.

There are also options for larger companies and enterprises so Velocity does not limit itself in terms of customer base.

Features:

The features that are of interest to many businesses, even smaller or medium sized, are not necessarily available to them at an affordable price due to the way the price plans have been structured.

  • If you want a mobile app or a softphone, you have to go through a third-party provider.

  • The automated call-distribution queue is only available through the enterprise-level service.

  • Conference calling is available as a standard feature

  • Conference bridging is available for an extra fee

  • Queuing, holding, transfer features

  • E911

  • spreadsheet statistics for your call information but no advanced analytics

  • Fully redundant network and 2 server locations

  • Call center features

  • Hosted PBX

VoIP Packages/Plans:

There is some flexibility here as you can purchase 1-year, 2-year or 3-year plans. When you select a plan, it is priced at one license per seat, which can add up. You can select either a Standard Seat or a Premium Seat (you will need to speak to an advisor for exact prices for your business). Whether you select a standard or premium license, you receive unlimited local and long-distance minutes, free in-network calling but somewhat limited international calling options.

Customer Support / Ease of Setup:

You can contact Velocity Networks through the usual portals of telephone and email. There is extensive documentation available on the website and these contain detailed instructions on use of the products as well as PDFs and screenshots of processes. There is also a section of FAQs. The VoIP support has its own section on the site, separate from other services provided by the company. There is also a particularly generous 45 day money back guarantee.

Bottom Line:

Velocity Networks could do with restructuring the price plans and included features, as they are not actually that competitive. It would also be beneficial for them to develop some features further, such as the mobile app and perhaps seek to make softphone features in-house. However the support offered is very high quality and there is always a quick response. There is also reassurance in the service level agreement and the two server locations.
