magicJack Business is one of the most affordable VoIP options available on the market, providing a standard feature set of VoIP services in a small bundle piece of USB hardware that you can take with you no matter where you go.
The magicJack BusinessGo service, priced at just $2.92 per month offers a nice collection of features for the price including: 3 way calling, voicemail, call waiting, caller ID, unlimited calls to the US and Canada, and E911 (Enhanced 911) services.
For additional features magicJack Business offers a Home & Business plan at just $14.99/mo, a price lower than many VoIP plans for small business owners. This includes everything from the basic plan as well as: Conference bridge, dedicated phone support 24/7, music on hold, enhanced call forwarding, caller ID block, call transfers, and extension dialing.
Note that the $14.99/mo rate is for a single line. Additional lines are $9.99/mo beyond the first.
magicJack Business is launching an additional premium plan that includes all of the above listed features as well as eFax, auto attendant, work groups, call logs, and mobile app functionality. The premium plan is currently marked as “coming soon” and is not yet available.
When this rolls out it will offer some scalability for businesses that need a bit more out of the magicJack Business service.
Given the existing features and extensions with the low cost per line, this is a very scalable solution for smaller businesses who aren’t ready to step into and pay for a more robust PBX system or call center solution. For rapidly growing operations, multi-site businesses or those with a growing volume of employees, you’ll likely want to move to a more comprehensive system down the road.
Setup really couldn’t be easier with the magicJack Business device, which is the primary appeal of the system. Rather than deal with a lot of software configuration in a traditional web-based PBX you just plug the device into your PC, attach the line and your phone and you’re ready to go.
For business customers who have extensions you’ll have some generic configuration to do for your extensions, voicemail and the like but this is extremely easy to do from your account portal. Maintenance and management are minimal outside of updating your preferences from time to time.
For business customers, magicJack Business offers 24/7 U.S. based customer service to ensure that you always have help when you need it. In addition to standard support the website offers visual guides for getting setup and a FAQ for questions or troubleshooting issues.
There’s no trouble ticket system in place on the website but aside from phone support there is an email addressed provided to contact a support representative.
The design of the magicJack Business device makes it the most mobile option for any VoIP customer. The device can be used where you have an internet connection. Just plug it in, attach a phone, and you’re able to use your VoIP.
Mobility is also extended by the iOS and Android apps that allow you to make calls from your account from any smart phone. You’ll need their premium account to use the mobile apps for magicjack Business though. Even without the mobile applications, the device itself still offers simple mobility to take your phone with you anywhere you go as it works on desktop and laptop PC’s alike via a USB connection.
magicjack Business is a simple, straightforward VoIP option that is extremely affordable. While it doesn’t offer all the bells and whistles of major VoIP brands it keeps the cost low. For startups and entrepreneurs who just need a phone to get rolling on their business this is a great cost-saving option.
